The 4 Disciplines of Execution COLLAPSE
After watching the videos and reading the content for this week, the main point I took away is that the whirlwind is something that is unavoidable in our innovation journeys. It is an obstacle that we will all need to work around in order for our implementations to be successful. One of the best ways to do this is with the 4DX model.
The whirlwind is the urgent daily tasks that cause workers to be so busy that they have no time to work on less urgent organizational goals (Covey, 2012). This, unfortunately, causes strategy execution to be limited. However, when we exercise the 4DX model, we are able to counter this hindrance by focusing on 1-2 clear and wildly important goals that increase morale, acting on the predictive and influenceable lead measures that help us reach our goals, keeping a simple, visible, and compelling scoreboard so that team members can keep track of progress and stay engaged, and foster a cadence of accountability via weekly meetings (Covey, 2012).
Although I understand the basic concepts of the 4DX model, I am still a bit confused as to how it fits with the influencer model. Is the 4DX model supposed to be applied to the various strategies we discussed in our 6 sources of influence matrix? This is a question I hope to gain more clarification on as I move through the DLL program.
