Learning Philosophy.

In my perspective, learning has and will always be a continuously active and dynamic process in which learners identify or embrace new knowledge either through research or guidance from their instructors. However, there exists a thin line between teaching and learning. I believe teaching involves passing knowledge to another through a set of resources, while learning involves grasping lessons from those teaching them. In a nutshell, learning is gaining knowledge while teaching is impacting knowledge. The relationship between the two is that teaching gives knowledge, while learning is acquiring the given knowledge given by an instructor.

My belief about learning is that acquiring knowledge as a learner has assisted me in providing insight for me as a lecturer. It has equipped me with adequate and enough knowledge to identify different psychological characteristics of my students and how to deal with each one equally. Such a move has enabled me to be insightful towards my students, allowing me to recognize different aspects to improve among each of them. As I learn the behaviors of different students, I understand the best teaching methods that can impact my learners. This act not only makes learning beneficial to them, but it also identifies me with each student's different attitudes and behaviors, making me a learner. Such an act shows the relationship between learning and teaching, meaning that either of them can take the place of the other.

In my belief, learning philosophy recognizes innovation. With this style of learning, students are able to develop and create things for themselves. This act encourages independence and makes them more integrated with whatever I teach them. Learning philosophy allows my students to be creative and innovative, allowing them to take ownership in what they are doing. An example of this is allowing them to own an e-platform. On the other hand, I believe that teaching philosophy is the method in which my students will learn. Therefore, teaching philosophy involves applying different methods to facilitate learning, whereas learning philosophy involves allowing the students to have ownership in their studies. In my activities as a lecturer, I normally allow my students to take ownership of most of their activities. It allows them to be more involved and equips them with enough creativity to solve different learning activities.

I believe that in my teaching activities, I apply both cognitive and behaviorism theories of learning. While beginning my semesters, I initially utilized the cognitive theory since I believed that students learned based on their intellect and initial intelligence. For instance, students can be well-versed with education as long as they were well versed with it at first. Meaning that one has to be familiar with grasping knowledge. Later, I began noticing that students are influenced by their external environment. External environments normally impact a student's learning life. A student's behavior is normally affected by their external environment, including their relationship with me. For instance, being in a good and stable environment can enhance their learning positively, while a negative and unstable environment can make it hard for them to learn.

Jean Plaget, an educational theorist, developed the theory of cognitive learning. In his perception, the cognitive theory allows students to identify with their own creativity. It allows them to identify with their own learning methods, ensuring they internalize with the learning environment. This theory is important since it assists me in allowing my students to take ownership in what they do, creating an aspect of leadership and creativity.
