10/25/2021 5303 Getting Started

Last term in 5305, we had to I created an eportfolio to turn in the Innovation Plan assignment. I had no clue on what I was doing and I didn't understand the directions. It took me a minuet to grasp the information. I've participated in adding information to my personal website but nothing above that. I'm a Paraprofessional at a high school i the Special Education Department. The students work from Schoology, Edgiphora etc. I'm still learning. In Schoology the Teachers has all of the coursework in daily folders. I think is very convient for the students to work in class and out of class. This is one of my favorite digital programs for learning. The students can see how much they have grown and learned through their semesters through daily assignments, quizes and major exams. After reading the assigned articles for this week, I was able to make the understand some of the things the students were completing in their online classes. I must admit, In 5305 I learned so much that prepared me for this course. I created the first eportfolio with my personal Wix account . I really like Wix but I've heard some good things about Weebly . I was very happy with the eportfolio that I created on Wix as I even was able to incorporate my blog into my site. I'm enjoying playing around with different tool on Wix and I am figuring everything out piece by piece. I have always wanted to do something in the digital world and I think this program will push me to the next level. My e portfolio will be my document my work and evidence for my learning but to be able to share with others who are interested in the same things as I am. I believe I will be able to teach others about the digital world once I complete this program.

I read all of the articles and after my readings I learned that ePortfolios allow the educator and learners to learn at a higher and on more of an intimate level and also to take ownership of their learning . The students should document and keep record of all assignments. Documentation will enhance their learning and if the need to go back for reference of any work " It will be there to go over".

The students reflect on their learning by documentation evaluating making meaningful connections to what they went over, understood and what they've learned. There is always room for improvement so the students will evaluate what worked and what's not working so adjustments can be made

The students can use documentation of a digital portfolio to demonstrate and show evidence of what they are learning and take ownership of their learning. They can collect their work in one place to show what they have created as a result of their learning.

I saw someone note this and I couldn't agree more. We as educators need to model that of which we are expecting our students to do by creating an eportfolio where we can reflect and document our learning experiences. The benefits are valuable for all.
